Passersby rescue driver from burning vehicle near Sharbot Lake

A 50-year-old from Peterborough is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after a crash on Highway 7 near Sharbot Lake.

Police responded to the collision, about an hour-and-a-half southwest of Ottawa, around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 28. Investigators say the vehicle left the road and hit a hydro pole before catching fire. 

Officers say other motorist stopped to help get the driver to safety.  

Central Frontenac Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the fire.
