Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry council elects interim warden

By Jason White

Councillors for the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) have elected a temporary warden, while the former one faces sex charges involving a child.

The previous warden, former South Dundas Mayor Frank Prevost, 53, was charged earlier this month by the OPP with three counts of child luring. He was also charged with one count of sexual assault involving an adult, as the result of a separate investigation.

Prevost was declared ineligible for the office of warden, and has been granted a six-month unpaid leave of absence by SDG council.

Allan Armstrong, the deputy mayor of North Dundas, was elected by his fellow council members to serve as interim warden until the end of the year. An election for a new county warden will be held in the fall.
