Bailey Andison's life-long dream is about to come true, as she will suit up for Team Canada at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

According to a Facebook post from Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow, on Thursday, June 24, Andison’s results in the 400 m individual medley on Wednesday, her third-place finish in the 200 m individual medley on Monday, and her near record-setting performance earlier this year in the 200m IM have qualified her to compete at the Summer Games.

Pankow says the 23-year-old was recently awarded the Brooke and Brittany Henderson Award for Youth for “her foundation of small-town values, and her ongoing perseverance, and dedication to reach her goals in her sport.”

“Bailey’s excellence and success in swimming and rise to prominence at national, and international levels stand as an outstanding example of what can be achieved,” wrote the mayor.

Andison was celebrated on August 22, 2020, when she was added to the Town of Smiths Falls' Wall of Fame.
