Two-day heat warning issued for parts of eastern Ontario

A heat warning has been issued for parts of eastern and southern Ontario as temperatures are expected to reach as high as 39 C with the humidex over the next two days.

Environment Canada issued the severe weather bulletin Sunday morning, adding that excessive heat and humidity are expected for today and Monday.

The ares affected by the warning are:

  • Merrickville – Wolfdor – Kemptville
  • Brockville – Prescott
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Winchester – Newington
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Prescott – Russell

Overnight lows will near 20 C but will offer little relief from the heat and humidity, the weather agency says.

Slightly cooler temperatures and lower humidity is expected by Tuesday.

The warning has not been issued for Ottawa.
