The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the death of a dog after remains were found floating in Mackey Creek, west of Deep River.

Officers say a large black dog, similar to a Labrador Retriever, was found on the morning of Tuesday, September 14, by a person in the area near a boat launch.

The dog did not have a microchip or identification tag.

Police say evidence surrounding the discovery of the dog suggests foul play may be involved in the animal's death.

A necropsy is going to be conducted to determine a cause of death.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-735-0188 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or at www.valleytips.ca.
