Site of Barrhaven mass murder up for sale

The Barrhaven townhome that was the site of a mass homicide in March is up for sale.

According to real-estate aggregator site Realtor.ca, the two-story townhouse at 324 Berringan Drive has been listed for $599,900 by Royal Lepage Realty. The site lists that the townhome has new granite counters, waterproof flooring and new carpet on the stairs.

In May, the owner who rented it out, Harpreet Chhabra, told OMNI News he intended on selling the home.

Six people died in the townhome on March 6. The victims were identified as Darshani Ekanyake, 35, Inuka Wickramasinghe, 7, Ashwini Wickramasinghe, 4, Rinyana Wickramasinghe, 2, Kelly Wickramasinghe, 2 months old and Amarakoonmubiayansela Ge Gamini Amarakoon, 40.

Dhanushka Wickramasing, the father of the family, was the only survivor of one of the worst mass killings in Ottawa’s history, escaping the attack with injuries to his hands and face.

Ottawa police arrested and charged a 19-year-old man who was an acquaintance of the family with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Police say he was living in the home at the time.
