OTTAWA, Ont. – Mayor elect Jim Watson choose the corner of Bronson and Third avenues to send one more message to the people of Ottawa, Tuesday.
About a dozen supporters, including his sister, came out to congratulate Ottawa’s 59th mayor.
He waved and shouted thanks to the many drivers who passed by and honked during rush hour.
“I feel great – I’m very honoured to be the incoming mayor and I’m looking forward to a really great group of people – both new councillors and veteran councillors working together to move the city’s agenda forward.”
He said he stood at that very intersection to thank supporters when he was last elected mayor.
Watson said he has had about three hours of sleep as he has been busy with television interviews.
He called standing at the intersection a small gesture to show just how honoured he is to represent.
