A garage fire in the city’s west end this morning closed a section of Meadowland Drive and caused about $55-thousand in damage.
Fire officials say they got a call about smoke coming from the roof of a garage attached to a house on Meadowland around 7:30 a.m.
Fourteen fire trucks and 32 firefighters were sent to the scene.
One person was evacuated from the home.
Fire fighters were able to put the flames out quickly, stopping the fire at the wall that divided the garage from the home.
Police closed the road between Indian and Laird Street for almost two hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
