Carleton University strike averted

OTTAWA, ON — Classes will continue as normal for students at Carleton University Monday.
Members of CUPE were set to strike but now a tentative agreement has been made with the school.
Both sides in the dispute have been tight lipped about negotiations but today new reports said the strike will be averted.
The union representing about 1500 teaching assistants and more than 600 contract instructors reached tentative agreements with the school last night.
James Meades, the co-president of CUPE told the Citizen details of the settlement will be disclosed after ratification which he hopes to see happen next week.
The deal came just two days before workers were set to walk off the job.
Meades says it’s unfortunate they had to come so close to a strike before reaching an agreement.trike before reaching an agreement.
