Wikileaks founder arrested in England

British police say Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested on Swedish warrant.

London police confirm officers from Scotland Yard picked up the 39-year-old Australian who has been in hiding in England.

A new a fresh European arrest warrant has been received by Assange’s lawyer.

The 39-year-old Australian is accused of rape and sexual molestation in Sweden. Two women in Sweden have claimed they were sexually attacked when Assange visited the country in August.

He has denied the accusations, which his lawyer Mark Stephens has said stem from a “dispute over consensual but unprotected sex.”

Meanwhile, U.S. officials are investigating whether Assange can be prosecuted under espionage law after Wikileaks released a mountain of classified and often embarrassing U.S. diplomatic cables.
