Firefighters pull nine-year-old boy from Rideau River near Strathcona Park

Emergency crews pulled a nine-year-old boy from the Rideau River just after 2 pm Tuesday after he apparently fell through the ice while playing with another boy, the fire department said.

Paramedics treated the boy on the shore of the river, but he had no vital sings at arrival of paramedics.

Resuscitation measures were initiated at the scene and en route to CHEO.

He had no vital signs at arrival at hospital.

There is no indication of how long the boy was in the water.
