A proposal has been put forward which could drastically change Ottawa’s landscape.
A developer wants to build a condo tower near the corner of Carling and Preston, at the entrance to Little Italy. It would be almost twice as high as current city rules allow.
The proposed 35 story building would tower over Ottawa and those willing to pay would get a view of the entire city, from Dows lake to the Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill. Some Councillors have already stated their opposition telling the Ottawa Citizen that the proposal is out of perspective with the area.
The Mayor, through his spokesperson, said he is looking forward to hearing from the public on the proposal. The builder will go before the city soon to ask for a re-zoning of the site to allow for the building.
