Environment Canada has issued a Wind Chill warning for the region for Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
Clearing skies with increasing northerly winds will give cold wind chill values in the minus 35 to 40 range beginning overnight and continuing into Sunday morning.
And a frostbite alert has been issued by Ottawa Public Health.
The alert will last through the weekend. Frostbite alerts are issued when the windchill is expected to hit minus 25 or colder. When it’s that cold, exposed skin can freeze in just 2-3 minutes.
Health officials are urging you to bundle up as the temperature goes down.
If you are outdoors, paramedics say to watch out for the four P’s of frostbite — pink, pain, patches and pricklies. They say if any of those symptoms show up, you should get inside, get dry and warm up.
