The “Great One” turns 50

Wayne Gretzky turns 50, Wednesday.
Fans fondly look back on the career and impact the Great One had on the game he dominated.
So, what do you get the man who’s done everything? That’s the question posed to hockey fans on a massive Facebook page set up by Rogers Sportsnet.
It can be argued there is no player in the NHL who delivered more memorable moments than Gretzky.
Many fans remember the mythic 1981-82 season when number 99 scored a staggering 92 goals, while others point to his career points record of 2,856.
One fan named Brian told 680News he still has a prized autographed Gretzky stick he’s had for 30 years.
As for Gretzky himself, he said he has no problem marking the milestone birthday.
“My family’s healthy, and I’m physically healthy, and I feel good, enjoying what I am doing and I am really excited about it,” Gretzky said.
