Walmart expands supercentres in Canada

Walmart Canada announced, Wednesday, it is slated to open 40 supercentres across the country this year.
More than 9,000 construction and retail jobs are expected to be created.
The plans call for the first Walmart supercentres in Manitoba and Quebec.
With the expansion, Walmart will have 333 location in Canada. 164 will be the supercentre format, which will have an increased emphasis on groceries. Specific store locations will be released in the next several weeks.
Analysts say that will put even more pressure on traditional grocery retailers.
Walmart is also expected to accelerate its growth plans in advance of Target’s entrance into the Canadian retail market, in the next two years.
