Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding is set for April 29 and the Canadian Heritage Department is responsible for picking the wedding gift, but they won’t reveal what it is until the wedding day. While even the budget is under wraps they did say that the present is determined by two things, the economy and order of succession.
Garry Toffoli, the executive director of the Canadian Royal Heritage Trust, told Postmedia News that the economy always comes into play, and that the fact that Prince William is two steps away from wearing the crown also affects the decision.
Past gifts from Canada to royalty have included Canadian paintings, a Canadian Mink coat, Aboriginal literature and parkas.
