Now that RCMP commissioner William Elliott has announced his plans to step down this summer, the search will begin for his successor. Ottawa police chief Vern White won’t rule out applying for the top job. His contract with Ottawa police expires in 2012.
He has publicly stated he won’t renew it.
White spent 20 years with the RCMP before becoming police chief in Durham.
He says the RCMP job would be a good one, but he thinks he already has the best job in the country. He says should he change his mind, his community and his membership would be the first to know.
