Public service growing under Harper Conservatives

The public service has grown eight percent in the five years the Harper government has been in power.
Post Media reported Human Resources and Skills Development saw a 47 percent jump in hiring. Hiring at Canada Border Services is up 22 percent. Traditional Conservative spending favourites like defence and police also saw increases of nine and 16 percent respectively.
The increases fly in the face of traditional Conservative leanings toward smaller government.
