Winterlude boosts local economy

After a successful first weekend, Winterlude organizers are looking forward to the next two weekends.  People in the tourism industry are all smiles as well.

Dick Brown with the Ottawa Gatineau Hotel Association says it’s hard to imagine Ottawa without Winterlude.  He says while hotels won’t be sold out, they will be very full as long as the Rideau Canal remains open.

The NCC’s Denise Leblanc says the festival pumps 73 million dollars into the local economy, with 43 million of that direct spending.  She says the money people spend travels around the local economy all year long.
