The Rideau Canal Skateway will remain closed until further notice because of mild weather conditions expected over the next few days.
The NCC also temporarily closed the Sun Life Snowflake Kingdom at Jacques Cartier Park and the Rogers Crystal Garden at Confederation Park. The closure is for safety reasons as well as to ensure the best possible conditions when the sites will re-open on Saturday for the last weekend of Winterlude.
Also, toboggan hills have been closed in the Greenbelt including Conroy Pit and Bruce Pit and the City of Ottawa has temporarily closed its 55 approved sledding hills due to unsafe conditions.
Snowmobilers, ice fishermen and children are being advised to be careful around rivers, creeks and lakes as the warm weather hits the capital.
