Hit and run crash kills two people in Coquitlam

COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – Two women are dead following a hit and run crash in Coquitlam this morning. Investigators have found the car involved, but the driver is still on the loose.
Around 12:30 a.m. a car carrying a man and woman crashed into the concrete barrier at Pitt River Road and Lougheed Highway. A couple of Good Samaritans, a husband and wife, pulled over to help.
RCMP Inspector Al Ramey spoke live on News1130 earlier today. He says one woman got out of each car and was standing near the crunched vehicle. “A white Grand Jeep Cherokee side swept the initial car accident killing both women instantly. The accident occurred in front of the Good Samaritan woman’s husband.”
The Good Samaritan who was killed was a mother of four children. The man involved in the initial crash is in hospital with a serious leg injury.
Police say the Jeep has not been reported stolen and they’re not saying if speed or alcohol were factors.
