Anderson perfect in debut

Newly-acquired goaltender Craig Anderson solved a problem that has plagued Ottawa Senator goalies all year, by stopping the puck.  In fact, he stopped all 47 shots he faced in regulation and overtime, not to mention two shots in the shootout.

Jason Spezza scored the only goal in the shootout as the Senators blanked the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 in the latest installment of the Battle of Ontario.

Anderson was acquired this week from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Brian Elliott.  The only hitch is his contract, which expires at the end of this season.  If he is the answer to the club’s goaltending woes, he is going to need a contract extension, or be re-signed during the off-season.

Senators general manager Brian Murray has indicated he intends to meet with Anderson before the season ends.
