Transport Canada investigating car seat

Transport Canada officials are now looking at the car seat, to see whether it played a role in the crash that killed a toddler on the 417 Thursday night.

The little boy was restrained in a forward-facing car seat when the car his step-father was driving was struck by a transport truck.

He was found with no vital signs and severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at CHEO.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the car seat was up to code, and properly installed.

OPP constable Guy Prevost says nine out of 10 car seats inspected at road-side checks are not properly installed.
