Harper, wife nab royal wedding invite

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Laureen have scored themselves an invite to the year’s most coveted “Do”.

They’re invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.

But the Ottawa citizen reports that “affairs at home” could force them to turn that invitation down.

With finance minister Jim Flaherty announcing Wednesday that the federal budget will be tabled March 22, if it were to bring down the government an election campaign could potentially conflict with the royal date.

The Prime Minister’s Office wouldn’t confirm to the Citizen that is the reason the invite has yet to be accepted.
