Security cost for royal wedding goes up

It’s one cost most people don’t factor in to a wedding: security.

But the price tag for policing the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton has risen to $31.7 million because thousands of officers will be able to claim double pay for working on what will be a bank holiday.

That would make it one of the most costly security operations ever staged in Britain.

By comparison, security at the G20 protests in London in 2008 was about $16 million.
