Environment minister not familiar with department-sponsored program

The Minister of Environment may be a little red-faced Wednesday, after learning a program paid for by his department was underway in Canadian schools.
It’s an advanced weather warning system – a radio that broadcasts emergency conditions like tornadoes.
The program cost close to $900,000.
When questioned in the House of Commons, Minister Peter Kent said he had to investigate because it was news to him.
