Ottawa man charged in multiple sexual assaults

A 27-year-old Ottawa man is facing six charges of sexual assault after a series of incidents where women in Ottawa we inappropriately touched.
All the incidents occurred between late November and early January.
Kawan Yavari was arrested February 24 and released on March 2 but police just released that information Friday.
Ottawa Police admit they should have been more timely in letting the public know about Yavari’s release but say offenders aren’t released into the public without precautions.
Police hope now that the information is out other victims may come forward.
Two of the six cases took place on Carling Avenue, one at the Lebreton Flats Transitway station and the others on Albert Street, Lees Avenue and the Montreal Road/Granville Street area.
In all of the cases the female victims were inappropriately touched while walking in the late evening or in the early morning hours.
Yavari will be back in court Thursday to face the charges.
