Elizabeth Taylor dies at age 79

Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor has died at the age of 79 of congestive heart failure.

It is truly the end of an era. Elizabeth was one of the last legends from the golden era of Hollywood.

Taylor had been plagued with back problems and health issues from a young age.

She was a precocious child who soared to fame in “The Horse Story National Velvet” and grew into a stunning diva who ruled the silver screen for a decade.

She was dazzlingly beautiful and fiery on the big screen. She got an oscar nomination for “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” in 1959.

But her first oscar win was for “Butterfield 8” in 1960 with then-husband Eddie Fisher.

Taylor was scorned by Hollywood when Fisher left his wife and Taylor’s good friend Debbie Reynolds to marry Elizabeth.

Taylor won her second Oscar in 1967 for “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf?”

Later in life, Taylor became an early champion for AIDS causes following the death of her friend Rock Hudson.

She won the prestigious Jean Hersholt humanitarian award at the Oscars in 1993 for her AIDS work.

She also launched a highly successful perfume company spearheaded by the big seller White Diamonds.
