Crime in the Capital is Down

If you feel safer in Ottawa these days it’s because you actually are.
New statistics released by Ottawa police show that the crime rate has dropped 4.5%.
Also, reports of suspected crimes through calls to police were up 6% over the same period.
Police Chief Vern White is happy with those statistics. He said that the percentage of calls rising shows people think it’s worthwhile to call police.
While the rate of personal and property crimes dropped..there was a significant jump in charges against those who commit bail violations or fail to appear in court.
