OC Transpo contract ends, no negotiations planned

The debate over the new OC Transpo plan hit Kanata Wednesday evening with over 2,000 people attending a public meeting.

Meantime, another fight is brewing because 2,500 OC Transpo drivers, mechanics and support staff saw their contract expire on Thursday. Although both the union and the city have said they believe a deal can be worked out, there are no negotiations planned.

Transit Union President Garry Queele told the Ottawa Citizen (italize) the union intends to deal with the outstanding scheduling issue that was the focus of the 2008 strike, before moving forward on any new contract.
