NDP Leader to unveil party platform

TORONTO, On. – The New Democrats will attempt to breathe new life into their election campaign by releasing their platform in Toronto, Sunday.
A main plank to the plan is a balanced budget within four years. NDP Leader Jack Layton said he has no problem being the last national party to release its platform.
“By being the last one out, people are most likely to remember it best,” he said.
Layton has hinted about what is to come when he unveils his platform, like tax breaks for small businesses, improving homecare, and making prescription medicines more affordable.
On Saturday, the NDP Leader was campaigning in Saskatchewan. He remained hush-hush about platform details, but promised to keep services for Canadians.
“We are going to cost out and indicate absolutely every step that we will be taking to achieve the balanced budgets while making sure the services are there for Canadians,” he said.
Layton said both the Conservative and Liberal platforms add up to cuts in services to Canadians.
