Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff is being taken to task by the premier of Saskatchewan.
He’s not happy with comments made by Ignatieff that suggest he could still become Prime Minister after the election even if he finishes second place in the polls.
Ignatieff has openly laid out a scenario in which a Stephen Harper minority government could be defeated and the Liberals could be asked to form government.
Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is echoing the arguments of Conservative leader Stephen Harper, saying this situation could be very bad for our country.
He knows it’s a perfectly legitimate scenario under the constitution but the Saskatchewan Premier believes Canada needs a stability, so the party that wins the most seats should govern — period.
“I hope it’s a majority government. If it isn’t then I do think we need a time of stability,” said Wall. “I think the government that wins the most seats needs to be able to bring down a budget and get the country moving forward.”
Wall says it doesn’t matter which party wins but Canadians need to feel confident that the results on May 2 will reflect the government they end up with.
