Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect for Ottawa Area

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa and surrounding areas and have ended the Tornado warning. The thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado has moved north into Quebec. There were no confirmed reports of a tornado.
Scattered strong thunderstorms are capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and a risk of a tornado.
The storm system is coming ahead of a low pressure system over Michigan. New thunderstorms are developing are developing over the Great Lakes and will intensify as they move northeast. Some storms are developing in Eastern Ontario ahead of the main system that is expected to strike tonight.
The hail could be up to 3cm in diameter and winds could gust up to 110km/h, with the increasing threat of an isolated tornado. Frequent intense lightning and torrential downpours could also be possible.

- WINCHESTER – NEWINGTON
- MAXVILLE – ALEXANDRIA
- BARRY’S BAY – KILLALOE
- RENFREW – ARNPRIOR – CALABOGIE
- PETAWAWA – PEMBROKE – COBDEN
A severe thunderstorm watch is continued for:
- SMITHS FALLS – PERTH – EASTERN LANARK COUNTY.
- PICTON – SANDBANKS PARK
- NAPANEE – CONSECON
- KINGSTON – ODESSA – FRONTENAC ISLANDS
- STIRLING – TWEED – MADOC
- TAMWORTH – SYDENHAM – SOUTH FRONTENAC
- KALADAR – BANNOCKBURN – BON ECHO PARK
- BANCROFT – HASTINGS HIGHLANDS – DENBIGH
- GANANOQUE – MALLORYTOWN
