VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks will look to take a commanding two-game series lead with a win over the Nashville Predators in game two of the Western Conference semi-finals.
Vancouver took game one edging the Predators 1-0 despite out-shooting the visitors from Tennessee by a third. Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne was the story of the game. He stopped 29 pucks and gave his team a chance in a game where the ice seemed tilted for the home team.
The Canucks, owners of the NHL’s best power-play during the regular season, have struggled over the last four games with the extra attacker. Vancouver is 0-13 over that span, including an 0-5 showing in game one on Thursday night. In five games against Nashville this year the Canucks power-play is 1-21.
Even though they didn’t register a point in the opening game of the series, captain Henrik Sedin and brother Daniel had a solid effort in game one, combining for 12 shots on goal. However, the twins have struggled over their last five games, scoring just three points and and are a -13.
Roberto Luongo to get the start in goal for Vancouver. Nashville counters with Pekka Rinne.
Game time is 6 p.m.
