Investigation into west-end fire continues

Investigators continue to search for the cause of a four-alarm fire that caused 2.5 million dollars in damage in Kanata.

The fire, on Remnor Avenue in the Kanata Lakes area, is made up of two story, multi-unit homes.  It took almost 70 firefighters to bring it under control.

Ottawa fire’s Marc Messier tells 1310News, there were no fully completed homes lost in the blaze.

“The places affected by the fire were under construction,” he said.  “The ones that were occupied sustained some severe damage to the exterior only, only from the extreme heat that melted the siding off the front of the building.”

Messier says the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate what sparked the fire.
