Hockey Canada has finally made a move to ban shots to the head.
There will now be zero tolerance measures for all head contact or checks in minor, junior, women’s and senior hockey. Minor penalties will be handed out for all accidental hits to the head in minor and female hockey.
At the junior and senior levels a double minor or major and game misconduct will be issued at the discretion of the ref if the hit is intentional.
Head shots made national news in the NHL this year sidelining Sidney Crosby as well as several other high profile players.
