Canucks fans celebrate downtown

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Three wins to go and the party in downtown Vancouver is well underway. But if you want a good spot for game two on Saturday, you’d better get there early.

Vancouver police were turning late-comers away from a block party held between Georgia and Robson.

But as soon as the Canucks won the game, the barricades came down, and hordes of people began high-fiving and hugging one another, waving Canadian and Canucks flags and singing.

Even visitors from other countries were caught up in the party. “There’s nothing like this (in England). Nothing like this at all. I mean where are the fights? This is great! There’s none of that back home. Oh my god there would be carnage right now!”

Most people said they’ll definitely be back for Saturday’s street party. “This is a whole new experience. I’ve been waiting 20 years for this and I’m going to enjoy every single moment of this.”
