Two Ontario students competing in prestigious spelling contest

How do you spell success?

Two Ontario students will be doing lots of studying and hoping for a little luck when they compete in the spelling bee.

Veronica Penny, 13, of Rockland and Torontonian Laure Newcombe have both spelled their way correctly into the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee Competition in National Harbour, Maryland.

According to the Citizen, the girls had perfect scores and are among the 41 spellers out of 275 moving on to the next round.

This is Grade 7 student Veronica Penny’s third time competing in the prestigious spelling competition.
