Canucks fans well behaved: VPD

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Overall, Vancouver Police are pleased with the good behaviour from Canucks fans following Saturday night’s big win over the Boston Bruins.
More than 70,000 people flooded the Granville Entertainment District to celebrate in Olympic-sized style.
“They were great last night,” says Constable Lindsey Houghton. He adds there were nearly 900 liquor pour-outs and 40 tickets were handed out.
“Given the size of the crowd and the tens of thousands of people who were down there, many of whom were in licensed establishments throughout the day and into the evening.”
So, what are they expecting for the upcoming road games? “For us, it’s just like home games. We’re going to have even more officers out there, the weather is supposed to be gorgeous on Monday and Wednesday, so they’ll be out there early in the evening and late afternoon.”
He adds a few officers are even icing their hands today because of all the high-fiving.
What to expect in Boston?
Mark Katick with WBZ Radio in Boston says the city and fans are pumped for the Bruins to come home and hopefully win a couple of games.
“That Game 7 with Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Finals, I’ve never heard the Garden that loud in my life, and I’m sure it’s going to be even louder for this game. Again, that is going to be something that is palpable to the teams, and the Canucks are not going to be used to this.”
As far as the safety of Canucks fans walking down the streets in Boston, he says they should be fine. “I think they’ll be ok. But definitely, fans here are frustrated. They know that these are both winnable games for the Bruins.”
He says Canadians shouldn’t doubt Boston’s loyalty to the hockey team, just because they have the Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots.
