Canucks pummeled in Boston

BOSTON, MA (NEWS1130) – Boston scored four goals in each of the final two periods, en route to an 8-1 victory over the Canucks in a chippy Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final. Mark Recchi had two goals for the Bruins.

Emotions ran high early in the game, as Boston’s Nathan Horton was leveled by a late hit by Aaron Rome. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher and he spent the night in hospital.  The good news out of that hit was Horton was moving his extremities.

Andrew Ference and Recchi scored all the goals the Bruins needed before the second period was five minutes old.  Jannik Hansen scored Vancouver’s only goal a couple of minutes after Daniel Paille had potted the Bruin’s second shorthanded goal of the game to make it 5-0.

Tim Thomas was sharp in the Boston net, making 40 saves, while Roberto Luongo stopped 30 shots. Luongo refused to come out of the game when coach Alain Vigneault asked if he wanted to be pulled after the fifth goal.

Game 4 is Wednesday in Boston at 5 p.m.
