Bicyclist struck for the second time in two years

A 47-year-old Barrhaven man says his biking days may be over.  This after he was struck by a vehicle for a second time in two years.

The latest accident happened early Friday morning on Greenbank road as Claude Chartrand was biking to work.

He was struck from behind and sent flying through the air, landing in the ditch.  The driver didn’t stop.

Police said they have evidence from the scene but without a description of the vehicle, they really have little to go on.

This time he spent the day in the emergency ward getting glass and gravel picked from his skin.  Two years ago, he was struck on Prince of Wales.

That driver was charged and Chartrand spent the next two years rehabilitating a back injury.  Police are asking the public to call the Collision Investigations Unit if they have any information about Friday’s accident.
