Lightning strikes Gatineau

The severe thunderstorm that hit Ottawa last night creating havoc for Ottawa firefighters also kept Gatineau firefighters hopping as well.    A quick acting neighbour of the home at 850 Saint-Rene boulevard battled flames of a home struck by lightning until firefighters arrived.    While the home did have a lightning rod, an electric charge was sent into the walls of the house.    The family will be able to return home this morning.     Meanwhile, in L’Ange Gardien, a bolt of lightning struck a barn at 891 Pierre Laporte Road.   Flames engulfed the structure which was destroyed.   In both cases, no injuries were reported.
