Transport Canada investigating plane fire

Transport Canada and provincial police are looking into what caused a plane’s engine to catch fire, forcing an emergency landing.

Police say the Learjet model 45 departed from the Earlton Airport, north of Sudbury, Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after taking off one of the aircraft’s engines caught fire.

The pilot shut off the engine and returned to the airport, where he landed safely.

None of the seven passengers or two crew members were injured.
