Police release driving blitz numbers

Ottawa police released numbers on two recent driving blitzes and the numbers are promising.
The latest distracted driving blitz resulted in more than 20 fewer charges than last time, with 63 drivers charged for distracted driving and three charged with careless driving.
Meanwhile, the latest Project Erase (Eliminating Racing Activities on Streets Everywhere) resulted in not a single charge of stunt driving.
21 drivers were stopped for speeding with the worst offender doing 149km/h in a 100km/h zone. Police also laid 46 equipment charges and 47 other Highway Traffic Act charges.
13 other drivers were charged for various emission control violations.
