Premier McGuinty says it’s not necessary to declare a state of emergency in northwestern Ontario.
Fires have burned through about half-a-million hectares of forest and forced nearly 36-hundred people from their homes.
McGuinty was in the region yesterday to survey the damage and talk with fire personnel, volunteers and evacuees.
The premier says the province is doing what needs to be done to battle the fires and aid evacuees without declaring an emergency.
