Thousands gather for puppet festival

It’s finally appropriate to say ‘lions and tigers and bears oh my!’ There were puppets as far as the eye can see in Almonte: tall, small, on strings, perched on poles and hands.

They all came with their human companions to celebrate the International Puppet Festival.

Wesley had a vulture puppet perched on his arm and told 1310News he’s already seen the coolest show.

“It was called ‘Everyone Loves a Pirate’ and these pirates find these two kids and they try to feed them to sharks.

There are 66 shows in total this year featuring performers from as far away as France.

The Festival runs until Sunday afternoon.
