The union representing OC Transpo drivers is reminding passengers that recording devices on their buses are already illegal.
The reminder comes as the Gatineau union fights to ban them on STO buses after a video of a driver filling out paper work while driving went viral on youtube.
They say it violates driver privacy.
Gary Queale is the president of the ATU in Ottawa says the bylaw prohibits the use of any recording device without the written permission from the director.
The exception of the bylaw, is if the video is made for personal use but it doesnt explain what qualifies as the exception.
But if people do take videos of drivers breaking the law the union wants them to come forward.
“I would prefer that they would call the comlpaint department, that’s what (it’s) for. (They can) voice their concerns with that and let nature take its course from there,” Queale tells 1310News.
He believes it’s a better avenue, than youtube.
