Woman passenger, 41, dies when ATV crashes into tree, driver faces charges

BANCROFT, Ont. – A man faces charges after a fatal ATV crash near Bancroft, Ont., over the weekend.

Police say 41-year-old Elizabeth Shannon of Peterborough was a passenger on an ATV that crashed into a tree west of Bancroft on Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at hospital.

The driver, 26-year-old Dustin Turcotte, of Highlands East, suffered minor injuries.

He has been charged with not using proper safety equipment and careless driving.

Police say neither rider was wearing a helmet.
