The Bluesfest stage collapse has led to changes to the safety plan and the structure of the stages built by the Groupe Berger.
Director of Sales Stephane Berger said the group has updated its safety procedure to include opening the wind walls at the first sign of bad weather but they’re not changing much else.
“We’re keeping our engineering inspection, we’re keeping our, you know, weather monitoring, we’re insisting on the monitoring with the events and insisting on our emergency plan,” he said adding it will be enforced more strongly.
He said they’ve doubled the stage’s weight from 180,000 to 360,000 pounds.
The company is providing a stage for the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival in September.
