Growing evidence has suggested that 15 minutes of exercise a day is the minimum needed.
Fitness guidelines by the world health organization recommend that adults get at least a half-hour of moderate workout most days of the week.
That could include brisk walking, bike riding and water aerobics.
But since people were having a hard time doing that much, researchers set out to find the least amount of activity needed to reap health benefits.
The findings by researchers in Taiwan found that just 15 minutes of moderate exercise a day can lead to a longer life.
The Taiwan study was published online in the Lancet.
